Description Nowadays it is not an exception that we face the statement that “correct” and “real” science is done in the West. Who wants to be a “real” scientist has to publish in journals published to the west of our borders. The presented article brings a thematic analysis of the articles in major Russian Studies (resp. Slavonic Studies) journals of western provenance (The Russian Review, The Slavonic and East European Review, Revue des études slaves, Zeitschrift für Slawistik) and selected Czech periodicals. The analysis proves that Czech and Western Europe Russian studies are not so different in the thematic direction, and defines basic problems dealing with the reason why Czech authors publish in Western European journals just in small scale.
