| Description | After the fall of the Roman Empire the new master over Mediterannean became the Byzantine navy with its new main combat vessel- dromon. In 7th century the supremacy of the Byzantines was overthrown by the sudden expansion of the Arabs who were quickly able to wage naval wars in the whole Mediterranean. In the present article the struggle between the Byzantines and the Arabs in 7th-11th centuries is described. |
