Description The paper looks into the differences between the verbs ´go´ and ´walk´ in the construal of ´walking´. It shows that ´go´ backgrounds the movement of the feet and profiles translocation (the verb is therefore used to encode directed movement). Nevertheless, the verb is not deprived of its capacity to express quantization. ´Walk´ presents movement as broken down into a succession of quanta. It encodes translocation as a result of a specific physical activity and thus may encode directed movement as well as non-directed movement.
