| Description | The essays are part of the research project Cinematic Brno and fits to the recent trend of New Cinema History. The book strives to understand various fasets of the cinema culture influenced by the socio-cultural milieu of the second largest Czechoslovak city. Brno was specific for its strong cultural bonds with Vienna, as well as by the co-existence of Czech, German and Jew cultures and habits. The papers in the book present, e.g., specificities of children cinema culture, cinema habits associated with blue collar culture, or analyse popularity of various genres and stars during the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. |
