| Description | The conference paper explores the concept of dual coding (Umberto Eco) in relation to films that can be viewed as profane stories, if the spectator does not perceive the presence of God in their fictional worlds, or as spiritual inspired films, if God is involved here. The identical text can have different meanings. Debate was illustrated by examples from the films Fateful Fortune (dir. Jiří Krejčík, 2010), The Fifth Seal (Zoltán Fábri, 1976) and Beyond the Hills (Cristian Mungiu, 2012). |
