Description Meditations have been a steady object of modern scientific research since 1960s. In psychology have been stressed their positive effect on one’s health as a part of missionary efforts of Buddhists in the West and led to naive psychologisation of meditations ignoring their cultural, historical and religious aspects in a research. This tendency is associated with a poor methodological quality of research taking meditation as a black box acting somehow upon a human. The paper aims to introduce and follow different approach to experimental meditation research based on careful definition of the particular type of meditation technique and its parts and focused on its effects upon one’s body image distortion. Paper is not just centered on description of the study procedure and results, but tries to guide a reader through many difficult methodological decisions necessary to make in experimental research of meditations. In general, there is a need for an integrated interdisciplinary approach connected many areas of expertise.
