Description | The study deals with current topic of positive psychology and health psychology. The main objective was to examine the relationships among mental health, health-promoting behavior, health complaints and social support. The research sample consisted of 1,363 Czech respondents (68% women, 32% men, age 20-65 years). We used Mental health MHC-SF, Scale of health-related behaviors, Inventory of health complaints, and Scale of social support for data collection. Online data collection took place between 2014-2015, the SPSS was used for the analysis. We revealed significant relationships between the overall mental health and health complaints (r = -0.277; p <0.001). The closest relationship to physical health showed the emotional dimension of mental health (r = -0.31; p <0.001). Correlation analysis revealed a significant relationship (p <0.001) between the health complaints factors and health-related behavior Mental Hygiene (r = -0.367) and Daily regime (r = -0.218). Positive significant correlation (r = 0.39; p <0.001) was also found between mental health and social support. From a developmental point of view, the age related differences in mental health factors and health behavior emerged. Obtained results are in line with a holistic approach to health. Specifically, the importance of positive emotionality, mental health and social support for physical and mental level was highlighted. (GA CR 13 -198 085 S, 2013 - 2016). |
