| Description | Monograph from the field of onomastics and translatology brings a complex perspective of somewhat neglected problematics of transfer of proper nouns between Czech and Russian and partly also between English and Russian. In the introduction the author describes methods of transfer of proper nouns, some of them just compiled from existing literature, some introduced anew and others modified. Especially the rules of transcription from Czech to Russian were subjected to critique and modified thoroughly. Then she defines which method is suitable for each category of proper nouns and text genres. The addenda include the most popular tables of transcription and transliteration. The treatise is a useful tool for translators, both Russian and Czech studies scholars, journalists, travel agents and all who work with texts containing foreign Russian and Czech proper nouns. |
