Description Experimental pottery production at the scientific research centre of the Institute of Archaeology and Museology at the Masaryk University Faculty of Arts (from here on ÚAM) in Panská Lhota began in the summer of 2012. The primary target of the experimental pottery production was an attempt to understand the manufacturing process, and thus better understand pottery finds in archaeological contexts. The experiment itself created more questions than answers, and so the experimental pottery production was expanded and has continued for six years. The experiments complement an interdisciplinary research of medieval pottery in the Bohemian-Moravian Highland Region; they also help with research of the settlement structure in the high and late Middle Ages in this region, which is part of the long term systematic research tasks of ÚAM.
