Description The book Karel Vorovka Skepsis and Gnosis is supplemented with an essay on the life and work of the author and a commentary on the key claims of book (The Philosopher and Mathematician Karel Vorovka. I. Life and Work, II. Skeptical Gnostic). There are three main themes in Karel Vorovka’s work. The first, mathematical and physical, is related to his studies of natural science at Charles University and his original profession of high-school teacher. The second theme combines scientific and philosophical ideas (Meditations on Cognition in Mathematics, Kant´s Philosophy in Its Relations to Exact Sciences). The third theme is philosophical and mainly includes the speculative work Skepsis and Gnosis, Polemos : Disputes in Czech Philosophy in 1919–1925, Two Studies on Masaryk's Philosophy and American Philosophy, an overview of American philosophical theories.
