| Description | Concept of generativity as care, passing the experience and values to future generations first appeared in the Erik H. Erikson´s theory of psychosocial development in the1950s. However, systematic progress of generativity research on theoretical and empirical level came up from 1980s. In the review study we focus especially on results of empirical research which dealt with relations of generativity to personality, well-being, parenthood and family, work, spirituality and religiosity, volunteering and political and societal participation. In conclusion we discuss limitations and future directions in research of generativity. |
