Description | Jan Mahr's exhibition presents three new photographic cycles that follow on his previous work. Mahr examines the possible transitions between photographs and the painting he studied in the past and painting accesses even when composing the resulting image. Large-format photos composed of old toned paper are reminded by their visuals of abstract painting. In the red-and-black photography diptych, the author is interested in what value we attach to the design of everyday needs. Jan Mahr (* 1977) lives and creates in České Budějovice. After graduating from the Secondary School of Applied Arts St. Anežky České in Český Krumlov continued his studies at the Pedagogical Faculty of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice and subsequently at the Institute of Creative Photography in Opava, where he graduated in PhD studies in 2012. Besides free work, he is also involved in pedagogical activities and works with a number of galleries. At present, he works as a teacher and head of the field of Photography and Media at the Secondary School of Applied Arts St. Anežky České in Český Krumlov. |
