| Description | In the presentation of my diploma theses, I focus on the language features which distinct Bernhard’s literary language from other German writing authors and which also represent problematic translation issues. Besides the description of complex sentence structures, I deal with ad-hoc-compounds. On the basis of specific examples, I describe their ironic function, compare similar language situations in the novels “Wittgenstein’s Nephew“, “Cheap-Eaters” and “Woodcutters” and outline the possibilities to translate them differently. Moreover, an output of my presentation is a poster. |
