Description | National culture and national literature are historical concepts linked to the formation of modern, national states in the 19th century. The culmination of the French literature experienced between the 19th and the 20th century seems to have passed. The study suggests that the current situation may be influenced by a combination of three factors: denationalization of the culture and the literature, changes in the relationship between center and periphery, and fragmentation of the literary and cultural space due to modern and postmodern transformations of media and publishing. |
