Description In 1189, Duke of Bohemia Konrad Ota proclaimed statutes at a colloquium in Sadská, a meeting of the elites from Bohemia and Moravia. This was issued in writing in 1222 and 1229 by King Přemysl Otakar I and in 1237 by Ulrich of Spanheim, office holder (so-called údělník) at Břeclav, but only for the provinces in the southern part of Moravia. The statutes did not constitute an innovative legislative act, but only a certain regulation and improvement to the provincial law of custom, in particular in the procedural and criminal spheres. For aristocratic land holdings the first article was of the greatest importance, since under it properly held “hereditates” were to be held in perpetuity.
