Description A published lecture for 50th run of Summer School of Slavonic Studies in Brno provides a survey of Czech lexicography from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day. It is based on several lexicographically orientated entries prepared of the New Encyclopaedia of Czech (prepared for print). A detailed focus is on Czech explanatory lexicography and on its perspectives, following also beginnings and development of specialized dictionaries of Czech, namely of dictionaries focused on aspects relating to the development of vocabulary (historical and etymological dictionaries; also dictionaries of neologisms), on territorially or socially marked vocabulary (dialectal and slang dictionaries), on specific parts of vocabulary (terminological dictionaries, phraseological dictionaries, onomastic dictionaries) and on specific ways of organizing the material (retrograde dictionaries, frequency dictionaries, thematic/notional dictionaries).
