Description This part of book focuses on Modřice in 1945–1989. The structure of inhabitants changed significantly in Modřice in 1945 – 1946 due to the Displacement of Germans from Czechoslovakia. Large part of the chapter describes the end of “German” Modřice and the arrival of new inhabitants. The following pages focus on the description of the communal politics during the Communist coup and strengthening of the Communist dictatorship. The most important manifestations of the Communist persecution of both individuals and whole parts of society are mentioned together with local social connections with these events. The social changes in the context of modernization process and in connection with the Communist experiment get our special attention. The author also describes creation of new local elite using mainly the local teacher as an example. The last part of the chapter briefly focuses on the development of agriculture and industry and the disintegration of the system of the Communist dictatorship during the period of so called normalization.
