Description The paper deals with small clay objects with a central spike depicting solar symbols (a cross in a circle, swastika and triquetra), that were found in a chamber grave in the cemetery of the Platěnice culture in Moravičany (Šumperk district, Czech Republic). In the article, the symbolism and function as well as the origin of these rare clay objects are discussed. Based on results of micro-petrographic analysis of one of the clay symbols and typical pottery of the Platěnice culture, we can assume that it was not the clay symbols themselves that were distributed, but the idea of them.
