Description The author of the present article reflects upon the poetological impulses of N. M. Karamzin which he connects with the specific features of the development of artistic currents in the 18-19-century Russian literature. Karamzin concentrated in his work the elements of poetics of various currents including not only sentimentalism and preromanticism, but also fragments of baroque, roccoco, and neoclassicism. The strength of poetological impulses is associated with the hypothesis about the permeation of genetic presupposition with foreign roots with several famous and most influential Russian authors (Karamzin himself, Zhukovsky, Pushkin, Lermontov, Gogoĺ, Senkovsky, Daĺ, Dostoevsky, Veĺtman others). Through his creation Karamzin crossed the threshold of epochs.
