Description This paper sets out to analyse Beckett's 1973 play Not I, focussing on its spatial dynamic through an examination of the different stages of the voice's formation in Beckett's drafts as well as in production onstage and onscreen. I thus demonstrate the value of interdisciplinary research within Beckett Studies, showing that genetic study of textual development has a great deal to contribute to performance analysis as well as emphasizing the continuous development of the performance text beyond publication.
