Description | In this paper, we present experimental evidence for the existence of the scale of decomposability in West Slavic. The experiments investigated the interaction between 3 classes of derived nouns and so-called A-different expressions in Czech and Polish. Participants were asked to judge truthfulness of examples involving bare plurals, collective nouns, and distributive quantifier phrases and A-different expressions in contexts supporting strongly co-variating scenarios. The results show non-trivial semantic differences between different classes of derived collectives in both languages. |
