Description This chapter focuses on the period of the Nazi occupation starting on 15 March 1939 and ending with the liberation of Modřice by the Red Army units in April 1945. The first part describes the occupation life in Modřice ands its vicinity. The nationality structure of inhabitants follows, then the local administration of the Mayor Josef Seidl, the clubs and associations and the acitivities of the local police station. One of the sub-chapters also describes the Czech and German education structures. The local industrial companies get the author's full attention, mainly the Biochema factory where an anti-Nazi resistance group worked untill it was destroyed by Gestapo attacks in the second half of 1942. The author describes both the activities of individual members group and the investigation and the Nezi court processes in Breslau (Wroclaw). Two members were executed for their resistance activities, others were sentenced to various non-custodial punishments. The concluding parts of this chapter focus on the racial persecution of Modřice Jews and the liberating battles in april 1945.
