Description Arts education is firmly embedded in the Czech education system. The clear connection between individual Framework Education Programmes and the attention paid to the primary arts schools emphasises the important position of these schools in the regional education system in the Czech Republic. The main aims of the paper are to define the specifics of arts education on the basis of a description of the historical development and contents; to present a causal analyses of the current state of arts education in the Czech Republic; to offer a synthesis of the obtained findings; and to propose a new direction for research in the area, especially in relation to education policy and reforms related to funding regional education in the Czech Republic. The main findings of the paper are that the complex system of arts education in the Czech Republic is unique in its structure, interconnection, and funding methods. At the same time, the arts education displays elements of hybridity by raising new issues requiring changes in the system. In addition to the theoretical and practical benefits resulting from the achievement of the declared objectives, we offer suggestions and a space to discuss the areas that go beyond the issues presented in the paper.
