| Description | The presentation analyses the style of the Czech populist politician Tomio Okamura in view of the current scholarship on the discursive construction of identity. It is documented how Czech populist discourse skillfully recycles some tropes from the period of the Cold War, and applies it to various targets - the mainstream media and various groups of 'others'. The presentation is an invited contribution to a panel on Populist discourse convened by Marianna Patrona and Mats Ekström. |
