Description | Thinking of St. Bonaventure of Bagnoregio (1221-1274) is characterized by a constant effort to develop the most difficult metaphysical and theological themes through traditional aesthetic categories. Based on the collatio secunda of Bonaventure's late Collationes in Hexaemeron, we will attempt to identify the exemplary aesthetic situation that, according to Bonaventure, determines the form of the intellectual ascension of the soul to the Wisdom. No simple truth (in the form of a protocol sentence), deprived of an ethical and aesthetic horizon, but only the "beautiful truth" (pulcra veritas) mediates the encounter of the soul with the Wisdom. |
