Description | Manuscript and printed inventories are a crucial source for the illumination of the history and the composition of today already mainly not existing art and book collections of the aristocratic, ecclesiastical and burgher collectors and lovers of art of the Early Modern Period. Based on examples of selected aristocratic picture collections of the Early Modern Period, the paper presents the basic types of inventory lists and at the same time tries to recapitulate their existing use by researchers. In the conclusion, several model foreign projects are presented as a possible inspirational example for Czech research on inventories. |
