| Description | The paper deals with the topic of a search for spirituality among American Jews in the early 1960s. This topic is interesting because Buddhism was so important for the young, especially for young Jews who discovered lost Jewish spirituality by means of Buddhist meditations. Three major leaders were chosen for the better understanding of the quest for Jewish spirituality. In their autobiographies, they wrote about their feelings that have led them to meditations to find their Jewish identity in Buddhism. These works are analyzed and then given to the culturally-historical context of the USA in the 1960s to explain this new phenomenon. |
