Description The article describes the Cathedra Petri, venerated as an important relic of St Peter, from the historiographical point of view. On the background of the Church history, the official Catholic discourse towards the throne is studied. This approach helps us to understand how one object’s perception had been changing in the various contexts. The article challenges some myths about this object, which had been already deeply rooted in the scholar’s narration.
