Description | This presentation should focus on analysis of latin and occitan waldensian texts from 14.-16. century. Goal of this presentation is identification of elements of collective memory and historical narration. Here, the presentation will focus on three points of view. First is analysis on the personage of founder Valdes. Second will focus on waldensian effort to find deeper roots of their movement (early church, apostles). Third will be a view of persecutions and the effort to deal with ongoing rejection of waldensians by catholic majority. These three views of waldensian historical narration are interwoven in the construction of philosophy of history with an eventual perspective to judgment day, the final point of their historical journey. Last goal is to describe the relationship between these narratives and the construction of valdensian identity – identity of persecuted and deeply ascetic movement, which reject this material world and patiently awaits the last judgment. |
