Description | Polish humanist Władysław Tatarkiewicz is well known on the field of aesthetic due to his great work History of Aesthetics (three volumes). Tatarkiewicz also formed his own theory of art. His article „What is art? The problem of definition today“ was published in 1971 (in Polish). In this article he tries to summarize the definitions of art from all history of aesthetic and then he proposes an disjunctive definition of art. This definition of art comes from the concept of aesthetic pluralism. Main goal of the paper „Pluralism in the disjunctive definition of art by Tatarkiewicz“ was the presentation of this definition and its specifics. |
