Description In the last third of the 19th century various forms of education were one of the means of support of selected fields of traditional handmade production. In north-eastern Moravia basketry was supported in this way. In the 1880s and 1890s, basketry schools were founded in several towns; that in Rožnov pod Radhoštěm operated for the longest time (1891–1920). Though its catchment area was limited to the micro-region of Rožnov, ties to other basketry schools in Central Europe can be observed. Bohumír Kramoliš, a graduate and later headmaster of this school played an important role in its specialisation and its contacts to other basketry institutions; besides Rožnov he also taught at basketry schools in Dolný Kubín and Kremnica (Slovakia) and in Morkovice (Moravia).
