Description | The talk attempts to look at a general schema of the Japanese particle ga from the point of Cognitive grammar (as presented by Kumashiro, 2016), evaluate limitations of this approach and propose a link between the soki-function of ga and the concept of fukujoshi and kakarijoshi of the traditional kokugogaku approach (previously attested for the particle wa). I suggest that in the light of the toritate research NOW is the time for Japanese language studies to reconsider the notion of ga as a simple case marker. |
