Description The concept of everyday aesthetics presupposes that aesthetic experience can be associated with any moment of human life. Hence this everydayness inevitably comprises also the cultural and social environment in which people live. Therefore, aesthetic experience occurs also when consuming the world of the media. It is the media that plays in the Euro-American cultural space both a crucial role in the establishment of aesthetic norms and values and aesthetic experience. However, at present, there is an intensive debate surrounding the media about to what extent we actually understand its contents and how it is formed. This text aims to present the field of extra-artistic aesthetics as a part of the concept of everyday aesthetics and media literacy. Moreover, it also points out to certain instability, ambiguity and in fact also uselessness of delimiting boundaries between the world of arts and the world of the media and simultaneously highlights the role of aesthetics in the critical reflection of everyday practice in the media.
