Description Can we feel in the same way what the medieval pilgrim experienced on the way to the sacred places? Certainly not, yet the experimental project Migrating Art Historians tried to dive into the depth of this unsolved question. Twelve modern pilgrims - students and researchers from Masaryk University - walked more than 1,500 kilometers on foot and met some of the most impressive artistic monuments of medieval France. One year after their return, this lecture presents their artist-historical, intellectual and human experience. In the context of the journey, the tired and moving body has become a tool for asking new questions about works of art and historical sources. The lecture will be conceived as a walk on the pilgrim paths: it first introduces the landscape, then the audience will enter the liminal spaces and will be led inside the medieval temple to the most sacred place.
