Description In the review article, the authors present the bases and applications of plyometric training (PT) in speed and endurance sports. Based on the analysis of the available sources, the PT periodization algorithm was designed, which includes the following phases: learning technically correct movement patterns, creation of force capacity through maximal eccentric and concentric force interventions; realization of plyometric at a low intensity; realization of plyometric at maximum intensity; plyometric realized though specific exercises. Apart from the describe algorithm, the authors recommend the optimisation of the volume (50-220 repetitions of the maximum intensity in the training session), the intensity (varying between phases of preparation and the performance level and experience of athletes with PT) and PT frequency (2-4 training session per week).
