“Non sedit super equum fervidum, sed super asinam” : Concerning One of Jan Hus’s Antitheses in His Czech Postilla

Description The article deals with the development of one specific antithesis of Christ and Anticrist in Jan Hus´s works written till the year 1413. It presents the differences between various utilizing of the antithesis of Christ arriving on a donkey and pope-Antichrist in purple and on a white horse which is based on Zechariah 9:9. It explores Hus´s Collecta Ad te levavi (1404–1405), Leccionarium bipartitum – Pars hiemalis (1407–1408), one Bethlehem sermon for Palm Sunday (1411) and Czech Postilla (1413), compares with John Wycliffe´s application of very similar motives and with other Hus´s works and tries to find a way how to answer the question about Hus´s influences and his reference to Wycliffe and Bohemian oral tradition.
