Citation
Description The author of the present study deals with the Czech monograph on Yuri Feďkovych (1973) by Mečislav Krhoun, a Brno specialist in Old Russian literature, Ukrainian and Byelorusian languages and literatures based predominantly in the comparison of his German and Ukrainian poetry including metrics, thematology and social and national motifs connected with the relation of folklore and literary substance of Feďkovych’s poetic creations. The author of the monograph rejects the artificial efforts to diminish the importance of his German poetry and, on the contrary, demonstrates the inner bonds of the thematic layers of German and Ukrainian poetry. Krhoun is rather conservative as a literary scholar, mainly theorist of verse, methodologically distant from the results of two famous Brno conferences (1964, published 1966, 1968, published 1968). His conception of a poet is based upon the unity of life, poetic creation and social and national life which is presented in the monograph in its complexity.
