Description The aim of this study is to map a development of a treaty port Tamsui (Taiwan) and especially daily life of foreigners in this exotic and dangerous region. The study covers topics such as the main maritime transport routes, foreigners' first steps on the island, foreigners' district, challenges and diseases they had to face and the growth of foreigners diaspora in Tamsui over three decades.
