Description | The article attempts to gain a new perspective on the textbooks of Klosterneuburg. The oldest prints date from the last decade of the 17th century and the youngest from 1765. The approximately 70 librettos are from various locations in Lower Austria, Vienna (including the imperial court), Bohemia and Moravia. The first, most numerous group form oratories that were performed at Holy Sepulcher in Holy Week (Sepolcri). The second group presents a series of oratorios in honor of St. John of Nepomuk, the third includes various homage and other occasional works. |
