Description The tradition of children´s cinema fostered at the Czechoslovak film studio Barrandov as well as at the Czechoslovak television successfully travelled to the East and West German film production culture during the 1970s and 1980s. The Czech creative standards of children cinema were welcomed and quite enthusiastically adopted by certain segments of film and television industry in both Germanies. Two cycles of Czechoslovak-German co-productions were exceptionally successful: four movies which Barrandov made with the East German studio DEFA in the 1970s, and numerous TV series which Czechoslovak television and Barrandov co-produced with the West German producer Gert Müntefering. The paper analyses the institutional, cultural, industrial, as well as personal conditions of the successful transfer.
