Description Archaeological excavation of the Castle Rokštejn began in 1981 as a rescue excavation. The change into a systematic excavation drastically influenced the speed of excavation works, and also became one of the student field schools at the Masaryk University. New methods were used during excavation as time went on, and the modernization of geodetic and GIS tools helped in excavation documenting. Extension of the primary research to the economic hinterland of the Castle represent maximal range of knowledge and research of historical landscape. The complexicity of the view of the Castle as a political-economic centre shows ties not seen in written sources. Problematics of systematically long-term archaeological excavations is also linked with logistics and research centre.
