Description There are four basic types of mythological reptiles or amphibians in East Asia: snake, turtle, dragon and frog. From large part every animal is connected with one prevalent emotional value, i.e. good/positive or sometimes also bad/negative. Together with introductory overview, this paper focused on examples of motifs in Mongolian culture and in Jeju Korean and Vietnamese folktales and their relation to local fauna, flora and palaeological findings of „dragon bones“ of dinosaurs.
