Description | The Olomouc Bishop Karl von Lichtenstein-Castelcorno was one of the most noteworthy artistic patrons and clients. Kroměříž, as one of the main seats of his residential network and the property of the Olomouc bishopric, through its residence and gardens provides the most self-contained document of the representation of Bishop, since it is precisely here that we find a momentous collection of works of art connected with the bishop’s patronage. The chapter shows which of the “faces” of the bishop is therefore most prominent in the iconographic programmes of the Kroměříž works. |
