Description The paper deals with the issue of brass music as an instrumental group functioning in the rural environment, in specific localities on the Slovak-Moravian border - Lanžhot, Tvrdonice, Brodské and Kúty. It focuses on the period of second half of the 20th century, when the change in cultural politics came with changes in impact of this cultural phenomenon. Brass music has become an extremely supported activity in the rural environment. Since the 1970s, its traditional form started to be replaced by the new influence of the popular brass band Moravanka. Due to these factors, new brass bands with a new repertoire and a new look began to emerge in researched localities. However, on both sides of the Morava River the results of this impact are nowadays different. Important role plays the local community.
