| Description | The Bulgarian language has been associated with the Masaryk University since it was founded – more precisely since the autumn of 1921, when the Slavic Seminar started its activity. The first Bulgarian language teaching as a first and second subject in the Slavonic program in Brno appeared for the first time in 1951, in connection with the division of the Slavic Seminar into three parts and the foundation of the Department of Slavonic Studies, which since 1956 has been expanded and renamed the Department of Slavic Philology and Comparative Indo-European Linguistics. One of the biggest problems encountered by the Bulgarian studies in Brno is the lack of institutional support from Bulgarian educational institutions. |
