Description The objective of this presentation was (1) to inform the audience how rapid population growth is, where it is (and will be) most severe, and which problems it causes, (2) to remind the audience of current gynecological problems such as the global epidemic of unintended pregnancies and insufficient availability of family planning methods and services, (3) to show the audience the need of a direct, systematic and global involvement of gynecologists and their organizations on solving this problem, with a particular focus on sub-Saharan Africa, where the problems of overpopulation will be most severe.
