Description | The general idea of the workshop, part of the international conference Plautus From Page to Stage organized by the Department of Classical Studies and the Daprtment of Theatre Studies, was to introduce the participants into the stage world of Titus Maccius Plautus and his palliate. The workshop was divided into three parts: In the first one, stage characteristics of Plautine comedy were introduced, e.g. the theatre and performance spaces in Roman Republic, costumes and masks used in palliate, ways of producing and rehearsing palliate, etc. In the second part, the participants were encouraged through the series of group exercises, to activate their bodily perception in order to be able to take part in the third section of the workshop, group exercise in staging Plautus. |
