Description | For many of those imprisoned in the Terezin Ghetto during the Holocaust, there was an unrelenting need to create, document, write, play, draw, and sing as a means of personal and spiritual resistance. These creative endeavors were a means of defiance against their Nazi captors. The extensive cultural activities that took place in the Ghetto embodied a deep desire not only to endure their circumstances but to survive and create for the world an archive of memory. |
