| Description | The aim of the paper is to investigate selected phenomena forming communication strategies of four guests in the GEN documentary series (The Gallery of the Nation‘s Elite) from the beginning of 2017. The performed linguistic analysis of their speech serves to: (a) identify tools used for meaning modification; (b) describe the relationship between denotation and connotation; and (c) describe their mitigation strategies. The analysis is primarily focused on lexical, sentence and text-level phenomena (intensification, contextual validity, speech structure). The identifed linguistic tools are assessed in terms of its function, then compared and, if possible, put in context. |
