Description The article analyses V. Y. Bryusov´s short story „Teper´, kogda ja prosnulsja“ in close relation to the prose works by E. A. Poe whose poems and short stories Bryusov knew very well as he translated them into Russian. The comparison of Bryusov´s text with Poe´s work shows that the Russian writer was inspired to connect the basic motifs of irrational violence and the wifeís murder with another motivation. In this way Bryusov articulates his interest in inner irrational world of individual - a tendency typical of art at the beginning of the 20th century.
